The 1st stage of Vyazma Factory of Reinforced Concrete Ties (capacity 100,000 ties a year) was launched in 1968. In 1974, the second stage (capacity 100,000 ties a year) was launched, together with metalware works.
The factory was part of the system of the Ministry for Construction Materials Producing Industry of the USSR. In October 1990, it was handed over to the Ministry of Railways of the USSR. On 1 October 2003, the factory became part of JSCO RZD.
The factory set up production of ties of the following types: ARS, SH3, SH1 E (European track), joint-type track for Sakhalin Railroad, as well as ties with various types of rail fastenings such as ZBR 65, ARS-4, ZBR 65D, Vossloh, Pandrol, etc. The metalware works produces cage washers for ties and bars for track switches (25 million items per year), molds for ties and bars for track switches, engineering facilities and technological equipment for ties manufacture.
At present, the factory produces ties on 7 production lines, design capacity 1,750 thousand ties per year. The 1st production line is used for manufacturing bars for track switches (BTS), 1,250 sets per year.
